Sr.
Warroad, Minn.
Led the Cobber ground game with 85 yards and 2 TD's in Concrdia's 25-7 win over Hamline.

Concordia allowed Hamline to score on the opening drive of the game, but then rallied for four rushing touchdowns and won 25-7. The Cobbers (2-2, 3-2) rushed for over 300 yards in the game and didn't turn the ball over in handing the Pipers (0-4, 0-5) their fifth straight defeat.

Concordia senior running back Jon Doebler (Warroad, Minn.) led the ground game, finishing with 85 yards on 17 carries and two touchdowns.  Quarterback Ryan Hebrink (So., Sacred Heart, Minn.) also rushed for a TD, his third consecutive game he has ran in a score, and Robert Clark (So., Seeley Lake, Mont.) added the fourth touchdown. Hebrink ran for 78 yards on the day, passed for 116 more and accounted for over 190 of Concordia's 448 yards of total offense. Clark also rushed for 78 yards on the day.

Hamline took the opening kick and went 84 yards in eight plays to open the score. That 84 yards would be half their game total of 168 total yards of  offense for the game. The Cobber defense stiffened behind the presence of senior captain Travis Olson (Sr., Hawley, Minn.) who returned to the Cobber defense for the first time this season since breaking his finger. Olson had a team-high six tackles for the game and junior defensive back Zach Turpin (Springbrook, Wisc.) added another 5.5.

Concordia scored once in the second quarter on Doebler' s first touchdown, a three yard carry. The run capped off a five play, 65 yard drive. Junior kicker Scott Brier (Cottage Grove, Minn.) missed the extra point and Hamline took a 7-6 lead into halftime.

The Cobber offense got on track in the second half as they marched for touchdowns on drives of 76, 58 and 80 yards. All three scoring drives were over nine plays, and all were punctuated by a touchdown run. Concordia scored twice in the third and once more in the fourth to make the final margin of victory 18 points.

Concordia's next contest will be homecoming for the Cobbers as they host Bethel on Saturday, October 13th at 1:00. Long time football coach Jim Christopherson and members of Concordia's national championship teams of 1978 and 1981 will be inducted into the Concordia Athletic Hall of Fame that day.
