Cobbers Score Three in the First Half, Down
St. Mary's 3-1.
Concordia scored three goals in the first half and cruised to a 3-1
win over St. Mary's. The Cobbers (3-3-0, 6-6-0) scored all three goals
in a 13 minute span to clinch their third conference victory of the year.
St. Mary's (1-4-1, 2-7-2) closed to within two with only six minutes gone
in the second half but were unable to get any closer as Concordia's shut
the door and preserved the victory.
Concordia scored first at 11:13 when Kendra Lee (Jr., Jamestown, N.Dak.) took a through ball from Marijka Belgum-Gabbert (Sr., Winona, Minn.) and slotted her eighth goal of the year. Seven minutes later Lee once again got behind the Cardinal defense and scored at 18:14. For Lee it was her 100th career point at Concordia. Junior Meghan Hansen (Eagan, Minn.) finished the Cobber scoring when she deflected a clearing pass and went untouched for 30 yards to score on the breakaway.
The lone St. Mary's goal was scored by Katie Curran when she was the recipient of an errant Cobber pass and slammed the ball past Cobber keeper Kathy Braun (Sr., Willmar, Minn.) from six yards out.
Braun collected 10 saves in the game, while Cardinal goalie Colleen
O'Hearn finished with 9.
