Cobbers Sprint to 6-4 Victory Over Hamline.
Andy Vix (So., Rochester, Minn.) collected four points in Concordia's 6-4 win over Hamline.

Concordia sprinted to a 5-1 lead, four minutes into the second period and hung on for a critical 6-4 victory over Hamline. The win snapped the Cobbers four-game losing streak.

The Cobbers, needing a sweep in the series to stay in the hunt for the five MIAC playoff spots, scored three goals in the first period and then two goals early in the second period to claim the win. Andy Vix (So., Rochester, Minn.) had a four-point night for Concordia (6-6-1, 8-11-1), as he scored one goal and assisted on three others. Troy Kleven had two goals and an assist for Hamline (4-10-1, 7-15-1).

It took a full 10 minutes before the Cobbers could open the scoring. Senior captain Toby Schneider (Grand Forks, N.Dak.) finally scored for Concordia at 10:31 of the opening period. For Schneider it was his team-leading 12th goal of the year. Aaron Marsh (Jr., Summerland, BC) followed closely behind, scoring his eighth goal of the year at 12:14. Kleven brought the Pipers to within one at the 16:22 mark. Shawn Kleven (Fr., Crookston, Minn.) sent the Cobbers into the first intermission with a 3-1 lead when he scored at 18:02.

In the second period, Concordia scored two goals exactly one minute apart. At 2:40 Vix scored his lone goal of the game, and then at 3:40, Matt Notermann (Fr., Rochester, Minn.) increased the lead to 5-1. Hamline's Bryce Parks narrowed the gap to three before the end of the period.

Concordia erased any hope of a Piper comeback when Nate Ronning (Fr., Moorhead, Minn.) scored eight minutes into the final period to push the score to 6-2. Hamline was able to scratch out two more goals and set the final score at 6-4.

Jason Gregoire (Jr., Moorhead, Minn.) made 26 saves in the game to pick up his sixth win of the season. Hamline split the goaltending duties. Starting netminder Robert Fuchs made eight saves and was pulled after the first goal of the second period. John Harstad relieved Fuchs and made 18 saves in the remaining 37 minutes.

The two teams finish off the series tomorrow at 2:00pm.
