Cobbers Edge St. Ben's 3-2 in First Game of the Series.
Concordia scored a goal in each of the three periods to edge St. Ben's 3-2, in the first game of the two-game series at St. Ben's. The Cobbers used a pair of goals by the league's leading scoring duo of Katie Jacques (Jr., Tempe, Ariz.) and Lindsay Kurtis (So., Phoenix, Ariz.) to overcome a tough Blazer defense.

Lindsay Czarnecki (Fr. Riverside, Cali.) opened the scoring for Concordia (8-2-1, 9-2-1) at 14:50 of the opening period. Kate Anderson (Jr., New Ulm, Minn.) and Anna Grafstrom (Sr., Roseau, Minn.) recorded assists on the goal. It was her second goal of the year. In the second period it was Kurtis' turn to put the puck past St. Ben's (5-4-0, 6-8-0) goalie Kate Hall. Kurtis scored just over four minutes into the middle frame on assists from Jacque and Jenei Estrada (So., Moreno, Minn.). Jacques tallied the game-winner at 10:12 of the final period, as Kurtis returned the favor and set up Jacques' goal. For Jacques it was her league-leading 15th goal of the year.  It was also Kurtis' 15th assist of the year, which also leads the MIAC.

Shyla Wilson (Jr., Cohasset, Minn.) made 28 saves in the game to pick up her eighth win of the year in the Cobber net. Hall made 17 saves on the 20 shots she faced.

The two teams finish the series tomorrow at 2:00 in Cold Spring.
