Cobbers Get Bombed by Bowdoin
7-1.
Concordia gave up a goal just 16 seconds into
the game and fell to nationally ranked Bowdoin (ME) 7-1. The Cobbers trailed
6-0 before finally getting on the board at the end of the second period.
The Polar Bears, who are ranked third in the nation in the latest USCHO
poll, notched their 17th win of the year.
Katie Jacques (Jr., Tempe, Ariz.) scored the lone goal for the Cobbers. Shelly Chessie had a monstrous night for Bowdoin (16-2-0), as she scored one goal and assisted on four others. First year goaltender Jamie Savage (Apple Valley, Minn.), making a rare start in goal, turned aside 30 shots, as Concordia (12-5-1) was outshot 30-15. Polar Bear netminder Emily McKissock made 14 saves to pick up her 13th win of the season.
The Cobbers will stay in Maine and play at Colby College tomorrow afternoon at 3:00. Concordia finishes the regular season next weekend when they host league-leading Gustavus on Friday, February 15th at 7:00 and Saturday, February 16th at 2:00.
