(ST. PAUL)--- Concordia seniors Antonio Castaneda (Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) and Treavor Peterson (Thief River Falls, Minn./Lincoln HS) were named to the 2002-03 MIAC All-Conference Team. It is the second consecutive season for both players to receive the award.
Castaneda, the team's captain, finished the regular season with 25 points (12g/13a) - which placed him 11th in the MIAC in overall scoring. He was tenth in the league in goals and second in power play goals (6). He was also tied for third in the MIAC in shorthanded goals with two.
He led the team in goals, power play goals and shorthanded. He was also second on the team in shots on goal (57) and fourth in assists. In his four-year career at Concordia he has scored 34 goals and handed out 42 assists. This season's total 0f 25 points is a high-water mark for Castaneda. He has steadily improved on his point production in each of his four years in a Cobber uniform. As a freshman he finished the year with 13 points (7g/6a). He had 15 (5g/10a) points in his second season and 23 (10g/13a) as a junior. Castaneda has not missed a game the past three seasons. He has played in 80 consecutive games for the Cobbers. His streak dates all the way back to February 19, 2000.
Peterson was tied for the league lead in scoring by a defenseman with 24 points (6g/18a). His regular season total of 18 assists places him sixth in the league. He was also tied for 14th in the MIAC in overall scoring and tied for sixth in power play points (12). He led the team in assists, finished second in points and third in shots taken (50).
Last year Peterson led all Cobber defensemen in scoring with 20 points. His 24-point total is a career-high, and gives him 51 total points for his Cobber career.
