Cobbers Finish 2nd at CSB/SJU Quadrangular.

So. Fort Benton, Mont. Won her third straight javelin title of the outdoor season. |
Concordia traveled to St. John's for the second time in two weeks and came away with their third straight second place finish. Two weeks ago the Cobbers finished second in the St. Ben's Triangular, then traveled to Jamestown where they posted their second straight runner-up finish and completed the trifecta by finishing second at the CSB/SJU Quadrangular.
Mariah Mougey (Sr., Enderlin, N.Dak./Enderlin HS) continued her outstanding outdoor season by winning the hammer throw and discus. She has yet to lose in either event in the three meets she has competed this spring. In the hammer throw she put up a mark of 158-1, and in the discus she won with a toss of 120-10. Both distances are below her season-best but both continue to make her the steadiest thrower in the MIAC. Mougey currently holds the eighth farthest toss in the hammer throw in Division III this season.
Nicole Plante (So., Fort Benton, Mont./Fort Benton HS) kept pace with Mougey's winning ways by winning her third straight javelin throw. Plante's heave of 119-4 was 13 feet farther than teammate, and runner-up finisher, Rhiannon Grimm (So., Hazen, N.Dak./Hazen HS). Plante, who has already has provisionally qualified for the national meet, is currently 13th on the national performance list.
Angie Pfieffer (Fr., Colman, S.Dak/Colman-Egan HS) has carried the success she had indoors to the outdoor track. Pfeiffer won both the 200-meter and 400-meter events at the meet. She has won two of the three 200-meter races she has competed in during the outdoor season.
The Cobber pole vault crew had their greatest success in school history. All three vaulters jumped over the 10-foot mark, and junior Renee Splichal (Garrison, N.Dak./Garrison HS) won the event with a vault of 10-10, which provisionally qualifies her for the national meet. The other two 10-foot plus, Cobber vaulters were Lindsay Kuznia (Fr., Olivia, Minn./BOLD HS) and Natalie Hanson (Fr., Rogers, Minn./Elk River HS).
Other Cobber event-winners included Carrie Fransen (So., Coleharbor, N.Dak./Underwood HS) in the 800-meters (2:22.90), Lisa Owen (Jr., Mineral, Virg./Minot HS) in the 1500-meters (4:51.18) and Kelli Tranby (Sr., Moorhead, Minn./Moorhead HS) in the long jump (17-8).
Concordia will split their team up for two events over the weekend.
The Cobbers will send the majority of their athletes to the NDSU on April
17, while a handful will compete at the prestigious Kansas Relays on April
17-19.
