Cobbers Hammer St. Mary's 6-0.
Kim Halvorson (So., Sioux Falls, S. Dak.) goes after the ball during Concordia's 6-0 win over St. Mary's.

(Moorhead, Minn.)-- The Concordia women's soccer juggernaut is on a roll. Three days after upsetting nationally-ranked Macalester, the Cobbers scored five first half goals and dismantled St. Mary's 6-0. The victory pushes Concordia into first place in the MIAC and improves their overall record to 8-2 on the year. Their 5-1 record in the MIAC is the best six-game start in league play in the history of the school.

Amy Ravenhorst (Fr., Hollandale, Minn./Albert Lea HS) started the scoring early when she scored her first of two goals at 3:39. Fellow first-year player Morgan Bain (Hugo, Minn./White Bear Lake HS) netted the first of her two goals less than two minutes later when she turned at the top of the box and fired a shot just inside the post.

Ravenhorst collected her second goal of the game midway through the opening period. After collecting the ball on the wing, she sent a looping shot that went over St. Mary's goaltender Emily Strom and under the crossbar. The Cobbers were the recipient of an own goal at the 27:08 mark. Betsy Olesen (Fr., Bismarck, N.Dak./Bismarck HS) finished off the scoring in the first half when she scored her first collegiate goal at 41:43.

Concordia scored a lone goal in the final frame. Bain tallied her second of the day, and sixth of the season, at 50:35 and that would be the end of the scoring for the Cobbers. Suzy Grabko (Fr., Fargo, N.Dak./Fargo North HS) pushed her team-leading point total to 18 by picking up two assists in the game.

Starting goaltender Jamie Savage (Jr., Apple Valley, Minn./Rosemount HS) played the first half and made one save in receiving credit for her seventh win of the season. Sandra Kane (Fr., Belle Fourche, S.Dak./Belle Fourche HS) came on in the second half and made two saves to preserve the team shutout. Strom made 10 saves in the goal for the Cardinals.

Concordia will play host to cross-town rival MSU-Moorhead on Wednesday, October 8 at 4:00pm, and then will return to MIAC action when they play at the College of St. Catherine on Saturday, October 11 at 1:00pm.
