Cobbers Swelter in the Heat of the Dragon Invitational.
MOORHEAD-- Concordia finished second at the heat pasteurized, wind-swept Dragon Invitational on Sunday. The Cobbers, battling 90 degree temperatures and winds that gusted to 30mph, shot a two-day total of 761 (386-351) to finish 37 strokes behind meet champion the University of Manitoba.

Katy Stevens (Sr., Colstrip, Mont./Colstrip HS) braved the elements to finish fifth in the individual race. Stevens fired a 181 (96-85) and was done in by a slow start on Saturday. The meet marks the third consecutive event that Stevens has led the Cobbers in scoring. 

Two golfers finished in a tie for second place for the Cobbers. Karissa Evenson (Fr., Pelican Rapids, Minn./Pelican Rapids) shot 95 on the first day but came back with a 91 to finish with a total of 186, and Katie Pietsch (Jr., Litchfield, Minn./Litchfield HS) reversed that role by shooting a 92 in the opening round and then slipping to a 94 to also finish at 186.

Lindsay Morasch (Jr., Sleepy Eye, Minn./Sleepy Eye HS) and Erin Douglass rounded out the top five for Concordia. Morasch finished at 201 (103-98) and Douglass was at 208 (103-105).
 

Concordia will stay in the local area to compete in their next two events. The Cobbers will participate in the Bison Open on Friday, September 24, and then play in the NDSU Fall Challenge on September 25. Both tournaments will be held at the Edgewood Golf Course in Fargo, N.D.
