Snap - Cobbers Watch as
Seven-Match Win Steak is Halted by St. Thomas 8-1.
The Cobbers fall for the first time since February 12 and see their MIAC record drop to 4-2. Concordia is now 7-4 overall. St. Thomas remains undefeated in conference play, moving to 6-0 in the MIAC and 12-1 overall. Their only loss was at the hands of natioanlly-ranked DePauw University.
The lone win for Concordia came at #5 singles where Paul Tuchscherer continues to find ways to win. He scored a 6-2, 4-6 (10-5) win over Grant Cambell. Tucscherer leads the Cobbers in overall wins this season. He is now 9-2 on the year and has not lost in eight matches.
The only other singles match where Concordia picked up a set victory was at #2. The Cobbers' Jordy Kamerling lost a heartbreaker after he won the first of his match against Brian Thomas. Thomas came back to claim a 7-5 win in the second set and then outlasted Kamerling 10-7 in the super set tie-breaker.
In doubles play, Concordia was never able to mount a serious charge at St. Thomas and lost all three matches. The tightest contest came at #1 where Kamerling and Jake Thomas lost to Thomas and Tut Fuller of St. Thomas 8-4.
Concordia will look to start
another winning streak when they host Bethel on Saturday, April 16 at 1:00pm
at the Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex. They will then host Valley City
in a non-conference tilt on Sunday, April 17 at 1:00pm. That match will
be the second half of a Concordia women's/men's tennis doubleheader and
