COLLEGEVILLE-- Concordia continues to improve and impress in the 2004-05 season. The latest measuring stick was a quality showing in the Terry Haws Dual Tournament held at St. John's.

The Cobbers dropped their first match of the day but then rattled off three straight wins to finish the meet with a 3-1 record. That mark placed them second in the "B" bracket and it was tied for the third best record in the tournament.

The top three Cobber wrestlers once again led by example. Dennis Kline (Sr., Plymouth, Minn.), Lee Rahrlien (Jr., Graceville, Minn.) and Smokey McBride (So., Eagan, Minn.) all posted 4-0 records. Kline had the most impressive slate for the Cobbers. The senior 197-pounder won all of his matches by a fall. Rahrlien, wrestling at 157, had one fall, a technical fall and a major decision in his four victories. McBride had two falls and won two matches by forfeit at the 125-pound weight class.(More

Improving Cobbers Have Solid Showing at MSU-Moorhead Open.
- Smokey McBride finishes 2nd at 125; Lee Rahrlien finishes 3rd at extremely tough 157.
- Complete Meet Results
MOORHEAD-- The number of wrestlers that Concordia has competing in each tournament is slightly down from previous years, however the quality of results is steadily increasing from week to week, meet to meet.

The ever-improving Cobbers traveled across eighth street to compete in the Dragon Open and came away with another solid performance and had several wrestlers finish in the top five of their individual weight class.

Lee Rahrlien (Jr., Graceville, Minn.) has emerged as a top-flight collegiate wrestler at 157. He finished third in the weight division with his only loss coming to two-time national champion Marcus LeVessuer of Augsburg. Rahrlien was the only wrestler in the tournament that did not lose to LeVessuer by a pin. In fact, the rest of LeVesseur's opponents did not make it out of the first round against the undefeated champion. Rahrlien finished the meet with a team-best, 4-1 record, and posted three wins over wrestlers from national power Augsburg. Two of the three wins against the Auggie grapplers came by pin.(More)
