Carleton Dual Meet Recap

Cobbers Can't Control Regionally-Ranked Carleton, Lose 9-0.
MOORHEAD-- Concordia dropped their opening match of the 2005 MIAC conference schedule by falling 9-0 to Carleton. The Knights entered the match as one of the preseason picks to win the MIAC conference and it showed as they blanked the Cobber for the second consecutive season.

The Cobbers, who lost a tight 5-4 match against cross-town rival MSU-Moorhead on Friday, are still searching for the team's first win of the year. Concordia is now 0-3 on the young season. Carleton wins their opening match of the entire spring season and starts the 2005 campaign where they left off last season. The Knights finished third in the MIAC last season and are expected to battle with Gustavus for this year's championship. Carleton is currently ranked ninth in the region by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The most success in the match for the Cobbers came in the doubles portion. All three doubles teams won at least two games. The #3 doubles team of Lindsay Hoaglund and Britta Emmel put up the best fight as they dropped an 8-4 decision.

Carleton owned the six singles matches. The Knights lost a combined 20 games over the six singles matches. The tightest match for Concordia came at the #6 singles spot where Hoaglund fell in a pair of two tough sets. She lost 6-4, 6-3 to Lisa Ottum of Carleton.

The Cobbers will have a two-week break in play before returning to match action. Concordia will play three matches in the UND Invitational on February 26 beginning at 3:00pm.
