Bethel Hands Cobbers 8-1
Defeat on Perfect Day for Tennis.
The Cobbers were unable to recover from losing all three doubles matches and lost 8-1 to the Royals. The loss drops Concordia's record to 0-9 in the MIAC and 1-12 overall. They have now lost six straight matches. Bethel wins for the second time in conference play, winning for the second time in three matches. The Royals are now 2-6 in the league and 4-11 overall. The lone win for Concordia came at the #3 singles slot, where freshman Kelsey Schendel put in a workman-like performance and claimed a 6-3, 6-3 win over Lindsay Chapman. The closest singles match of the day came at the #4 position. Concordia's Annie Styba and Bethel's Kari Blair battled into extra points in the super set tie-breaker where Blair won 11-9. Styba was leading 6-1 in the tie-breaker before Blair pulled out the huge rally and claimed the victory. The remaining four singles matches were won in straight sets by the Royals. Concordia will return to
action on Sunday, April 17 at 1:00pm when they host the Valley City State
Club Team. The match will be played at the Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex.
