Tough 2005 Campaign Comes
to a Close With a Pair of Losses at the MIAC Tournament.
The two losses push the Cobbers out of the tournament and finishes their season. Concordia ends the year with a 1-15 overall record and a 0-12 mark against competition from the MIAC. The 15 losses is the most ever in a season for a Cobber women's tennis team since the program began back in 1980. The Cobbers dropped their opening match of the tournament to the Oles. It was the second time this season that St. Olaf had beaten the Cobbers 9-0. The closest individual match came at #6 singles where Jami Winkelman lost 6-0, 6-3 to Jorie Steffen. Against Hamline in the first
round of the consolation bracket, Concordia freshman Kelsey
Schendel was able to pick up the only win for the Cobbers in the
tournament. Schendel beat Dre Eilertson after Eilertson had to retire
due to an injury in the second set. Schendel finished the season tied with
Annie
Styba as the team's top singles players. Styba and Schendel each
ended the year with five singles wins.
