Cobber come from behind to topple Macalester 81-72

The Concordia Cobbers needed a strong second half to come from behind to defeat the last place Macalester Scots 81-72 January 13, 1996. The Cobbers improved to 6-1 in the MIAC, 9-2 overall, and remain in second place in the conference.

Five minutes into the second half, Concordia was behind by nine points 57-48. Mac had shot 61 percent from the floor, and finished the game at 62 percent. But the Cobbers outscored the Scots 14-2 in the next 2:30 to regain the lead for good at 60-59.

Down the stretch junior guard Jessie Williams scored seven of Concordia's last ten points to help the team pull away and come away with a win.

Williams finished the game with four assists and three steals to go along with his nine points. Daimen Crump led the Cobbers in scoring and rebounding with 18 points and seven boards.

Jason Sorenson scored 14 points including four three-pointers in the game and Cornelius Bishop scored 13 points, including three three-pointers.

This week, the Running Cobbers travel to St. Mary's Monday and St. Olaf Wednesday.
