1972 Football

In 1972 the Cobber football team, under Coach Jim Christopherson, amassed a 6 - 3 overall record and finished in 3rd place in the conference with a 3 - 4 record.

1972 Cross Country

Coach Ed Langsdorf had high hopes for his 1972 cross-country team The team was almost the same as the previous year, losing only Captain Darrel Carstens through graduation.  This yearís squad was led by sophomores Dennis Frichtell and Ed Deutschmann who showed promise last year and performed well in the 1972 track season.  Two other returning lettermen, Bob Johnson and Daryl Kosiak, both sophomores, are expected to help the team.

Dual Meet: Wahpeton Science - 16, Concordia - 42

1972-73 Men's Basketball

Sonny Gulsvigís 1972 - 1973 basketball team finished the season 10 - 15 overall and
4 - 10 in the MIAC.  His roster included Don Williamson, James Morstad, Dave Tranby, Phil Maring, Steve Gets, Mike Astrup, Rad Dahlberg, Pete Holte, James Bjorklund, Karl Beck, Craig Ruechert, John Jordono, Bruce Kjesbo, Dave Reitan, James Andresen, Dick Knutson, and Robert Holt.

1972-73 Wrestling

The 1972 - 1973 Cobber wrestling team included Steve Haddeland, James Smith, Fred Hashley, Paul Isackson, Ed Fain, Joel Haugen, John Rasmussen, Chris Larson, Terry Bishop, Brian Olson, Steve Kittelson, Tom Sorbo, Steve Simonson, Steve Thompson, Rick Swanson, Roy Hendrickson, and Bob Tepe.  Finn Grinaker was coach of the team.

1972-73 Hockey

 Al Rice coached the 1972 - 1973 hockey season to a 9 - 13 overall record, 7 - 8 in the MIAC.  On the team were Bill Driver, John Sirotiak, Captain Tom Hanle, Hal Olimb, Kevin Roth,
Mark Turk, Mike Donahue, Mike Boyle, Rick Sandstrom, Bill Babich, Garth Lutz, Ron Torfin, Mark Skrien, Rob Abalan, Lee McFadden, Gary Johnson, Dick Erickson, Lynn Hanson, Dan Zotz, Steve Root, Tim Cullen, Terry Cullen, and Ron Torfin.

1973 Baseball

The 1973 baseball team were 12 - 9 overall and 8 - 8 in the conference for 5th place.  Under Coach Al Rice, the team included Craig Haukebo, Mark Nicholson, Jeff Paterson, Bill Driver, Karl Beck, Peter Holte, Paul Nelson, Jack Peterson, Bruce Lattu, Scott Atchison, Steve Gress, Gary Enderle, Lyle Larson, Jack Smokrovich, Howard Metzer, Mike Semling, Rod Peterson, Kirby Crawford, Bruce Carlson, John Nelson, Jim Agre, Guy Kalland, and Bill Richardson.

1973 Track

Ed Langsdorf coached the 1973 track team which included Robin Foss, Larry Lenyard, John Lund, Roy Magnuson, Mark Seymour, Tim Price, Don Brummond, Dave Uhlir, Alan Johnston, Bob Johnson, Mark Johnson, Charlie Hammer, Dave Sundby, John Theigpen, Bill Sorenson, Bob Fabian, Gary Johnson, Daryl Kosiak, Bob Heckert, Dave Maggitt, Dennis Frichtel, Terry Asp, Bob Seim, Phil Dregger, Ed Deutschman, John Tunheim, and Don Wamsley.  The team was 6th in the MIAC.

ďThe Concordia track team is off and running as they have participated in several early season, indoor track meets.  Dennis Fritchel set a new Concordia indoor track mark in the 880-yard run with a time of 1:58.1.  Bob Seim brought down another indoor CC record as he posted a 52.9 second 440-yard dash.
ďAlso worth noting is that Concordia will host three indoor meets in March in the new fieldhouse.  Coach Ed Langsdorf cited that the new facility is making a tremendous difference in the track program.Ē

1973 Golf

In 1973 the Concordia golf team, coached by Finn Grinaker, won its first MIAC championship with a 36-hole total of 809, edging out Augsburg at 816.  Those on the team were Fred Kahn, Chris Aasland, Bill Riddering, Kevin Bostrom, Jeff Tweeton, Tom Sorbo, Mark Handahl, Craig Johnson, Paul Johnson, and Steve Storslee.  Other results of the season were:

Cobber-Dragon Invitational: 3rd place out of 10 teams
Northern State Invitational: 4th place out of 7 teams

Morris Invitational: 4th place out of 11 teams

Honeywell Tournament: 6th place out of 24 teams

1973 Tennis

The 1973 Cobber tennis team under Coach Bob Nick finished 5th in the MIAC, but won 9 of 13 dual matches during the season.  Playing for Concordia were Brent Glommen, Steve. Schneider, Grady Kjesbo, Mark Schaefer, Chuck Hawkins, Jim Spencer, Dan Hagseth, Bob Wolf, Mark Theno, Scott Chapman, Dale Rehkamp, Dave Buchman, Keith Dustrud, and Jim Sanoden.
Tennis scores were:
