2/10/97 The Cobbers beat St. Mary's at home 63-61 tonight. The Cobbers jumped to a 30-19 lead at halftime and maintained the lead throughout the contest. The Cobbers were up by as much as 19 points in the second half. A late rally by St. Mary's got them as close as 4 points. A 3 pointer by St. Mary's at the buzzer made it a 63-61 final. The Cobbers were led by senior Nick Guida who recorded his first career double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds. Guida was key in maintaining the lead by making 8-9 free throw attempts. James Gillhouse came off the bench and scored 12 points. Daimen Crump added 11 for the home squad.
The win was Concordia's fourth in a row and 7th in their last eight games. It also put the cagers over the .500 mark for the first time since they began 1-0. They are now 9-7 in the MIAC , putting them into a three-way tie for 4th place in the conference. Next up for the Cobbers is a home matchup against St. Thomas Saturday.
2/8/97 The Cobbers won again this afternoon at St. Olaf 87-72. Leading the way for Concordia with 34 points was Daimen Crump . Junior James Gillhouse provided 16 points. Kevin Pearson added 11 points while helping hold St. Olaf's Tim Schilling to 7 points. The Cobbers took a 47-31 lead at the half on 75% shooting from the field. Concordia went to 8-7 in the MIAC, 9-9 overall. St. Olaf fell to 9-7, 22-9 overall.
A win by the Cobbers over visiting St. Mary's Monday would put the Cobbers in tie for 4th in the MIAC.
2/5/97 The Cobbers won their 5th game in 6 tries with a 84-59 win over Macalester in Moorhead tonight. The Cobbers pulled out to a 43-30 lead at the half, going 8 for 8 from the three point land. The second half began with a 24-2 Cobber run. Concordia is now 7-7 in the MIAC 8-9 overall. Macalester is 1-14 in the MIAC, 2-17 overall. (See Box Score)
Daimen Crump led the Cobbers with 15 points, followed by Cornelius Bishop's 13, James Gillhouse with 11 and Nick Guida had 10. Concordia shot 59 percent for the game. Macalester was led by Jordan Barnhost's 24 points.
The Cobbers play at St. Olaf Saturday at 3:00 and then return home to host St. Mary's on Monday, Feb. 10.

2/1/97 Concordia jumped out to a 57-37 lead at the half and cruised to a 85-64 win over visiting Carleton tonight in Moorhead. The win moved the Cobbers to 6-7 in the MIAC, 7-9 overall. Carleton fell to 8-5 in the MIAC 9-8 overall. The Cobbers were led by Cornelius Bishop's 22 points and Daimen Crump's 20. Bishop was 5-7 from 3-point range. (See Box) (See Forum Story)
Cobber point guard Greg Dean , who leads the nation in steals, had 5 more thefts tonight to go with his 9 rebounds, 7 assists and 2 points.
1/29/97 The Cobbers shot a below-freezing 28 % tonight on their way to a 65-45 loss at Gustavus. The loss ended a 3-game Cobber winning streak and kept Gustavus on top of the MIAC at 10-2. (See Concordian Story)

The Cobbers broke open a 26-26 tie at halftime with a 26-4 run to open the second half. Daimen Crump led the Cobbers with 19 points. Cornelius Bishop had 14 and Nick Guida had 12. Greg Dean had 9 assists, 7 points and 11 steals for the Cobbers. Hamline was led by Mike Barrickman and Will Roseberg with ten points each.
1/25/97 Concordia knocked off league-leading St. John's 75-71 tonight in Moorhead. Concordia moves to 4-6 in the MIAC, 5-8 overall. St. John's is now 8-3 in the MIAC, 10-5 overall.
The Cobbers, who came back from a 40-35 deficit at the half, got 23 points from Daimen Crump, 17 from Kevin Pearson and 14 from James Gillhouse . Pearson was 5-5 from 3-point range.

12/11/96 Concordia lost 69-62 to Gustavus here tonight. Jason Quam led the Gusties with 19 points, including 5-7 on 3-pointers. Concordia got 20 points from Daimen Crump, 14 From Cornelius Bishop and 12 from Kevin Pearson. Concordia jumped to a 25-16 lead midway through the first half. But a Gustie 3-point barage gave them a 36-33 halftime lead. Concordia regained the lead at 44-42 five minutes into the second half but again fell back. The Running Cobbers Cobbers split a pair of games at the season-opening New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) Tournament in Newark over the weekend. The Cobbers beat Gwynedd-Mercy (PA) 89-71 on Friday, Nov. 22 and then lost to NJIT 70-68 in the title game on Saturday,
Friday's win over Gwynedd-Mercy was highlited by a 32 point performance by senior forward Daimen Crump and solid point guard play by Greg Dean. Dean had 11 assists, 9 rebounds, 7 points and 6 steals. Cornelius Bishop had 18 points for the Cobbers and Kevin Pearson added 13. All Cobber players saw action as the Cobbers extended a 12 point halftime lead to as much as 30 late in the second half.
Saturday afternoon's title game featured two teams that made the NCAA Tournament last season. In fact, NJIT, which is moving to Division II next season, has been in the last 5 NCAA Division III tournaments. The Cobbers jumped out to a 34-26 lead at the half despite Greg Dean having to sit most of the half with foul trouble. Dean fouled out early in the second half . The Cobbers gave up the lead down the stretch due to a series of early-season miscues and a furious NJIT rally. NJIT held on for a 70-68 win. Crump had 28 points on the night and Bishop added 15. Both were named to the All-Tournament Team.
Junior post Brett Klabo had 8 points and 4 boards in the NJIT loss and 7 against Gwynedd-Mercy.
