- Complete List of MIAC All-Conference and Postseason Awards
ST. PAUL-- Concordia senior Jake Thomas (Indian Hills, Colo./Conifer HS) and head coach Dave Lester earned MIAC postseason honors as announced by the league office on Tuesday.

Thomas was named to the All-Conference team and Lester was named the MIAC Coach of the Year. It is the first postseason award for both Thomas and Lester and caps a breakhrough season for Concordia men's tennis.

Thomas, the lone senior on the Cobber squad, was the team's #1 singles player and finished the year with a 10-7 overall record. He finishes his three seasons with the Cobbers with 25 overall wins.(More)

Cobbers Rebound From Friday Heartbreak to Claim 5th Place at MIAC Tournament!
5th Place Semifinals - Concordia 5, Hamline 4: Matchday Recap - Box Score
5th Place Finals - Concordia 7, St. Olaf 2: Matchday Recap - Box Score
ST. PETER-- After suffering a gut-wrenching and dream-dashing loss in the quarterfinals of the MIAC championship tournament on Friday, Concordia responded by winning a pair of matches on Saturday and claiming fifth place at the conference meet. The Cobbers beat Hamline 5-4 to start the day, and then finished the tournament by pounding St. Olaf 7-2.

The fifth place finish is one place higher than Concordia finished last season and is the best finish since the 2003 season when the Cobbers finished fourth.

The two victories push Concordia's overall record to 12-6 on the year. That is the most victories by a Cobber team since the 1992 team went 12-8 and also finished fifth at the MIAC tournament.(More

Cobbers Succumb to Sequel Blues, Lose 5-4 to St. John's in MIAC Quarterfinals.
Matchday: Matchday Recap - Box Score
ST. PETER-- It was only five days ago that Concordia dug a 0-3 hole in doubles play against St. John's and climbed all the way out by winning the singles competition 5-1 and the overall match 5-4. The Cobbers tried to follow the exact same script in their MIAC quarterfinal match with the Johnnies on Friday, but unfortunately, as is the case with all sequels, the remake was not as good as the original.

Concordia lost all three doubles matches but fell one single match short in their attempt to make the MIAC semifinals for the first time since the 2003 season. In the end, the Cobbers fell 5-4 to the Johnnies and will have to settle for trying to win the fifth-place consolation bracket.(More)

Super Singles Play Helps Cobbers to Huge Comeback Win Over St. John's!
Matchday: Matchday Recap - Box Score
MOORHEAD-- Things looked pretty bleak for the Cobbers after the completion of their doubles competition against St. John's. Concordia had lost the day before in a white-knuckler to regionally-ranked Carleton, and were now down 3-0 to the Johnnies after the first three doubles matches. To make matters worse, if Concordia did not dig themselves out of the three-match hole, they would fall all the way into fifth place in the final regular season standings in the MIAC.

Over the course of the next hour, the Cobbers proceeded to pull off one of the greatest comebacks in program history and nip St. John's 5-4 at the wire. Led by senior Jake Thomas playing in his usual #1 singles spot, Concordia won the first five singles matches and leaped over the Johnnies to gain sole possession of fourth place in the conference heading into the MIAC tournament on April 29-30.(More

Cobbers and Knights Put on College Tennis Showcase; Concordia Falls 6-3.
Matchday: Matchday Recap - Box Score - Action Pictures
MOORHEAD-- If a stranger happened to be passing by the Jake Christiansen Athletic Complex tennis courts on Saturday and had no knowledge of college tennis, that person would have walked away from the tension-filled match between Concordia and Carleton a huge collegiate tennis fan.

The Cobbers and regionally-ranked Knights staged a gritty, three-hour match that came down to the final two singles matches of the day.

Trailing 2-1 after the doubles competition, Concordia needed to win four of the singles matches to claim the victory and have a chance at securing a place in the top three of the conference.(More

Cobbers Show Maturity as They Roll Over Valley City State 9-0.
Matchday: Matchday Recap - Box Score
MOORHEAD-- Concordia used their last non-conference dual match as a testament to how far the program has come. A day after beating Bethel 8-1, the Cobbers avoided a letdown and showed their commitment to becoming a top flight program by rolling over Valley City State 9-0.

In past seasons, Concordia would have come out flat and struggled to beat the overmatched Vikings, but on the day after Cornstalk, the Cobbers showed their maturity by overwhelming Valley City with their talent and hard work.

All three of the doubles matches and all six singles matches were never in doubt as Concordia cruised to their ninth dual win of the season. The doubles teams did not allow the Vikings more than three games in any match and all the singles matches were straight sets.(More)

Cobbers Get Back to Their Winning Ways, Bounce Bethel 8-1.
Paul Tuchscherer wins 10th singles match of the season!
Matchday: Matchday Recap - Box Score - Action Pictures
MOORHEAD-- It officially took six days for the Cobbers to get back on the winning track. Less than one week after having their seven-match win streak snapped at the hands of St. Thomas, Concordia made short work of Bethel by racing to an 8-1 decision.

Concordia is now 5-2 in the MIAC and 8-4 overall. Their eight overall wins is the most since the 1998-99 season when they won nine dual matches.

Cobber sophomore Paul Tuchscherer becomes the first Concordia player to reach the 10-win barrier for the season. He eclipsed that mark for the second straight season with a 6-3, 6-2 victory at the #5 singles spot. Tuchscherer, who won 11 matches in his freshman season, is now 21-6 in his first two seasons of collegiate tennis.(More)

Seventh Heaven! - Cobbers Down Division I SDSU to Record 7th Straight Win!
Matchday: Matchday Recap - Box Score
BROOKINGS, S.D.-- In an athletic year marked by historic winning streaks, pencil in the Concordia men's tennis team as the next program on the list to string together a school-record winning streak. In the fall, the Cobber football and volleyball teams ran off impressive winning streaks. The winter brought the women's basketball team and their extensive unbeaten string. Now in the spring, the men's tennis team has tied the program record for most consecutive victories in a single season.

The Cobbers used their depth in the singles department to overcome NCAA Division I opponent South Dakota State 7-2. After losing two of the three doubles matches, the Cobbers won all six singles matches to record their seventh straight victory. The win pushes Concordia's record to 7-3 on the season. The Jackrabbits lose their fifth straight match and are now 1-5 on the year.(More)

Cobbers Discover the Joy of Six As They Beat St. Mary's to Claim 6th Straight Win!
Matchday: Matchday Recap - Box Score
WINONA-- When you are on a roll in sports anything is possible. You have a tendency to manufacture your own good breaks and winning seems as easy as being one of the heirs to the Hilton fortune. The Concordia men's tennis team is officially on a roll and life is nothing but winners and passing shots!

The Cobbers outlasted St. Mary's 6-3 to pick up their sixth straight victory. The only other time that Concordia has posted a six-match winning string was back in 1992 when they also won six straight. The win also extracted a small amount of revenge for last year when the Cardinals turned the tides on the Cobbers and came away with a 6-3 win of their own. Concordia is now 6-3 on the year and improves their MIAC mark to 4-1. St. Mary's falls to 4-8 overall and 0-4 in conference play.(More)

The Cobbers won five of the six singles matches to come away with their fifth straight win. After losing their first three matches of the year, the Cobbers have run off five in a row to move their overall record to 5-3 on the year.

The match is the start of a weekend where Concordia will play two conference matches on the road and then finish with a tough non-conference tilt against NCAA Division II South Dakota State.(More

Matchday: Matchday Recap- Box Score - Action Picture Page

The win pushes the Cobbers' overall record over the .500 mark for the first time this season. Concordia is now 4-3 overall. The Cougars lose their season-opener and start the 2005 campaign 0-1.

The Cobbers set the stage in the doubles competition. All three of Concordia's doubles teams cruised to victories. The #1 doubles team of Jake Thomas and Jordy Kamerling won 8-1 and are now 5-2 in the spring season.(More

Scrappy Cobbers Drop Conference Opener to League Bully Gustavus 9-0.
Matchday: Matchday Recap - Box Score
MOORHEAD-- There is a reason that Gustavus has won 31 of the past 34 MIAC championships. They are good, really good. The Gusties are like the big kid on the block that no one can overcome. On Saturday, the conference "big kid" flexed its collective muscles as they rolled to a 9-0 victory over Concordia. The good news for Concordia is that despite not winning a match, the Cobbers played Gustavus to the tightest overall match in years.

With the loss, Concordia falls to 0-3 on the season. Gustavus, who also won two other matches on the day, improves their 2005 dual match record to 4-0.(More
