11/15 Cobbers Place 14th at NCAA Central
Region Meet; Myran Earns All-Region Honors.
(Grinnell, Iowa)-- Nick Myran (Jr., Kenyon Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) completed his breakout season by finishing 14th at the NCAA Division III Central Region Meet and earning all-region honors. Myran's time of 25:24 was a career-best, and he was only 14 seconds out of finishing in the top 10 and 1:14 behind the winning time of Josh Moen of Wartburg. Myran becomes the first Cobber men's runner since Jason Trichler in 1992 to earn all-region honors. His time of 25:24 is 57 seconds faster than his region meet time in 2002. As a team, Concordia bettered their pre-meet goal of finishing higher than their 16th seed. Receiving season-best times from their top five runners, Concordia finished 14th. All five of Concordia's top runners finished in under 28:01. Ben Nylander (Sr., Lisbon, N.Dak./Lisbon HS), continuing to heal from a season-long injury, shaved almost a minute off his MIAC time and finished as the team's number two runner in a time of 26:33. He cut 22 seconds off of his time from last year. Dan Bye (Fr., Mankato Minn./Mankato Loyola HS) claimed the team's third fastest mark by coming home in a time of 27:48. He jumped two places in the team rankings from the MIAC and cut 1:19 off his conference time. Tyler Bormann (So., Detroit Lakes, Minn./Detroit Lakes HS) continued to place as the number four runner on the squad, finishing in a time of 27:59. Coming in just behind Bormann was the squad's lone senior runner Josh Wopata (Sr., Grand Rapids Minn./Grand Rapids HS). Myran Earns All-Conference Honors.
(St. Paul, Minn)-- Nick Myran (Jr., Kenyon Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) continued to show why he is the top runner for Concordia as he placed ninth at the MIAC Men's Cross Country Championship Meet and earned all-conference honors. It is the first time that he has earned the all-conference award. Myran, who stayed with the lead pack throughout the entire race, covered the 8,000-meter course in a time of 26:11.0. He was less than three seconds out of sixth place and finished only ten seconds behind the fourth-place runner. Matt Hooley of Carleton won the event in a time of 25:32.0. As a team, Concordia was able to claim ninth place at the meet with a final team score of 246 - only seven points behind eighth place Gustavus. St. Thomas won the team title with an overall score of 42. Ben Nylander (Sr., Lisbon, N.Dak./Lisbon HS) was able to run a steady race after suffering through injuries throughout the season. Nylander finished in a time of 27:35.0 which was good for 41st place. Josh Wopata (Sr., Grand Rapids Minn./Grand Rapids HS) was the team's number three runner, finishing 60th in a time of 28:32.0. The final four runners for the Cobbers were separated by nine spots in the final individual standings and by less than three minutes on the clock. Tyler Bormann (So., Detroit Lakes, Minn./Detroit Lakes HS) finished in a time of 28:44 (66) and was followed by Dan Bye (Fr., Mankato Minn./Mankato Loyola HS). Bye, running in his first MIAC Championship Meet, ran a time of 29:07 (70). Chris Erickson (Jr., Great Falls, Mont. Charles M. Russell HS) and Dustin Blum (Jr., Le Center Minn./Le Center HS) rounded out the top six for the Cobbers. Erickson ended up in 72nd place in a time of 30:23, and Blum completed the course ina time of 31:36 (75). Concordia will compete in the NCAA Division III Central Region Meet on Saturday, November 15 at 11:00am at the Oakland Acres Golf Course in Grinnell, Iowa. 10/25 Cobbers Finish Fourth at SJU/CSB

10/11 Cobbers Get Key Performances By
2nd-3rd Runners at Jamestown Invitational.
(Jamestown, N.Dak.)-- The Cobbers competed at the Jamestown Invitational and gained more meet-experience and took another step closer to the MIAC Championship Meet on November 1. Although the top runner for the Cobbers didn't change, the story for the team was the second and third runners. Nick Myran (Jr., Kenyon Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) continues to be as regular as the US Postal Service in delivering his top time for the Cobbers. Myran finished seventh in a time of 27:11.30. He has now finished in the top 15 in all but one race in 2003. Dan Bye (Fr., Mankato Minn./Mankato Loyola HS) and Tyler Bormann (So., Detroit Lakes, Minn./Detroit Lakes HS) have steadily improved over the course of the first month and a half and showed their confidence by finishing 2-3 for Concordia. Bye ran a 28:45.60 and finished 19th while Bormann ran a 29:08.20 and finished 24th. Ben Nylander (Sr., Lisbon, N.Dak./Lisbon HS) and Josh Wopata (Sr., Grand Rapids Minn./Grand Rapids HS) were the team's fourth and fifth runners at the event. Nylander ran the 8k course in 29:14.90 and Wopata was right behind him in a time of 29:29.70. Concordia will take a week off and resume race action on Saturday, October 25 when they compete at the CSB/SJU Triangular Meet at 9:00am. 10/05 Cobber Coach Garrick Larson Runs

10/03 Cobbers Use Depth to Run Past
MSU-Moorhead 26-29.
(Glyndon, Minn.)-- The Concordia men's cross country team claimed three of the top five individual places en route to beating MSU-Moorhead 26-29. The Cobbers also placed all five runners in the top nine to win their first dual meet of the season. Junior Nick Myran ( Kenyon Minn./Kenyon-Wanamingo HS) continues to lead the Cobbers. He finished second at the meet in a time of 26:27.5. His time was only 6/10th's of a second behind meet champion Dane Moreland of MSU-Moorhead. Ben Nylander (Sr., Lisbon, N.Dak./Lisbon HS), running in his first meet in over a month, finished third with a time of 26:54.3. Nylander had been out of action due to an injury since competing in the opening meet of the season on August 30. Rounding out the top five for the Cobbers were Dan Bye (Fr., Mankato Minn./Mankato Loyola HS) who finished fifth (28:09.0), Josh Wopata (Sr., Grand Rapids Minn./Grand Rapids HS) who ran a career best time of 28:40.0 and finished seventh and Dustin Blum (Jr., Le Center Minn./Le Center HS) who ran the course in a time of 29:18.1 and placed ninth. Concordia will host the annual Homecoming mile and 5K run on Saturday, October 4 at 9:00am. Concordia's next meet will be on October 11 when they compete in the Jimmie Invitational at Jamestown College. 9/27 Cobbers Finish 35th at Roy Griak
