Pyle was succeeded as SID in May of 2000 by Jim
Cella.

Sport Information Director:
Pyle served as the Cobber Sports Information Director from 1988 to
May 2000. His office was is responsible for Cobber sports press releases,
recruiting publications, stats crews and stats reporting, several awards
programs, and maintaining the Cobber sports pages on the world wide web.
He also has a strong professional interest in working with other SIDs in
their effors to integrate the web into their work.

Faculty Member:
Pyle was also a faculty member of the Physical Education and Health
Department. He taught an integration class entitled Sports and Society
(PE 410) in the second semester and first summer session. From 1988 to
1993 Pyle wrote a series of Perspectives articles
that give his insights into college sport and sports in general.

Learning Through Technology Consultant:
Pyle served as a Learning Through Technology Consultant at Concordia
during the 1997-98 and 1998-99 academic years. He hadhelped provide
support for Concordia Departmental Webmasters and faculty involved in web
publishing.
Coaching Background:
Jerry Pyle served as an assistant men's basketball
coach
from 1992-1998. He was an assistant to Siverson in the women's
basketball program from 1985-1991. He was
the head women's coach in 1991-92 . He worked
as an assistant to Duane Siverson for a total
of 12 seasons. During those years together, their teams are 229-101. Pyle
also served as the head men's golf coach from 1990-1997.
Other Background and Education:
Pyle was raised on a farm near Casselton, ND, and played basketball
on the 1968 Central Cass state championship team. He was North Dakota's
1968 Athlete of the Year and went on to play basketball at the University
of Minnesota. Pyle graduated with honors there in International Economics
and Political Science and then graduated from the University of Minnesota
Law School in 1976. He practiced law in the Twin Cities for eight years
before returning to the Red River Valley in 1984.
Pyle lives in West Fargo, ND, with his wife, Barbara. Barbara Pyle,
a graduate of the Valparaiso University Lutheran Deaconess program. She
is a former North Dakota state legislator and vice president of the Eastern
North Dakota Synod of the ELCA. She is currently a pastoral assistant at
Failth Lutheran Church in West Fargo. They have two children, Becca and
Gerald. Both are graduates of Oak Grove High School in Fargo. Becca is
a 1997 graduate of Concordia. Gerald attended the University of North
Dakota.
