2005 - was the team’s closer and had the ability to pitch multiple innings...he returned to Cobber baseball after taking his sophomore and junior seasons off to concentrate on his football career...led the team in saves (4) and was second in strikeouts (28)...pitched 33.1 innings and appeared in a team-high 15 games...was 3-for-3 in his last three save opportunities...in his last five appearances he was 1-0 with three saves and a 1.74 ERA...During that stretch he had struck out 13 in 10.1 innings pitched...he did not allow a run in four appearances and 8.2 innings pitched – a streak that was stopped in his last appearance against Augsburg...opposing hitters were hitting only .224 with the bases empty against Dietz...only allowed one home run this season and did not allow a roundtripper in the past 24 innings of work.
