their season with a 19-5 overall mark. The Cobbers finished the regular

ST. PAUL-- If there was
any question whether Concordia would carry momentum into the conference
tournament, the Cobbers quickly posted a thundering answer as they pounded
Hamline for 93 points en route to a 93-62 victory. The win pushes Concordia's
winning streak to 15 games, which is the longest since the national championship
team of 1987-88 also won 15 straight. It is the fifth longest streak in
program history.
The Cobbers finish the regular
season with a 17-3 record in the MIAC, which gives them the second seed
for the conference tournament, which begins next week. Concordia's second-place
finish was cemented after league-champion Carleton beat Bethel 79-63. The
runner-up finish is the highest for the Cobbers since the 1993-94 campaign
where they also finished second and advanced to the NCAA tournament. Concordia
is now 19-4 overall and is one victory away from their second straight
20-win season.(More)

MOORHEAD-- Concordia took
care of business in the opening 20 minutes of play, jumping to a 17-point
lead, and then held on to beat St. Thomas 76-66.
With the win, the Cobbers
clinch a bye in the first round of the MIAC playoffs and a home game in
the semifinals. The victory also pushes Concordia's win streak to 14 games.
That is the sixth longest winning streak in school history and longest
since the 1988-89 season when they won 16 consecutive games. Concordia
also keeps an outside chance of an MIAC title alive. With one game remaining
in the regular season, the Cobbers trail Carleton by one game. The Knights,
winners at home against St. Mary's on Wednesday, would have to lose their
final game of the year at Bethel coupled with a Concordia win at Hamline,
in order for the Cobbers to share the MIAC crown and claim the #1 seed
in the playoffs.(More) |
