Tonight’s Game
About the Cobbers
The Cobbers enter tinight’s game at 1-0, coming off a 64-46 win
at home Saturday against U-M Crookston. Leah Sonstelie,
Concordia’s scoring leader in 1996-97, led the cobbers with 14 points.
Freshman Sara Spears added 11 against Crookston. Eight other Cobbers also
got into the scoring column.
Concordia has 7 freshmen on their roster this year and need
to find replacements for three key graduated starters, All-MIAC forwards
Holly Zollar and Ann Mehrkens and guard Mindy Schirm. Those three provided
the Cobbers with 30 points and 16 rebounds per game in last year’s 18-7
campaign.
About the Dragons
Moorhead State is 0-4 coming into tonight’s game after losses to
the NCC’s NDSU, SDSU, St. Cloud State and Mankato State. The
Dragons are led in scoring by 6-3 junior center Kristie Stengle, who had
successive games of 13, 16 and 17 points last week.
Game Notes
This is the 45th meeting between these two teams. The series is
tied at 22-22. Concordia lost to Moorhead State 59-57 last year on a last
second shot by Tonah Paulson, one of Moorhead State’s current assistant
coaches.
