Women's Basketball 1990-91 Wrap-Up

Thykeson leads Lady Cobbers

I.ady Cobber basketball coach Duane Siverson, who ran his seven-year won-lost record at Concordia to 163-37, will he losing three valuable seniors this spring.

Senior forward Michelle Thykeson, Finley, N.D., led the lady Cobbers to a 19-7 regularseason record, a second-place finish in the 1990-91 MIAC title race, and a ninth consecutive invitation to NCAA post-season play. Thykeson, a Kodak allAmerican last year, averaged 16.3 points per game and 7.8 rebounds to earn all-MIAC honors for the fourth consecutive year. She also became the Lady Cobbers' third leading all-time scorer, racking up 1,648 points in her career.

Seniors Kim Fierke, Mountain Iron, Minn., and Rhonda Schneekioth, Tower City, N.D., will also he missed next year. Fierke was one of the league's best reboundcrs and an academic all-MIAC honoree. Schneekloth will go down as one of Concordia's all-time great shooters.

These three seniors led their teams to an NCAA national title, two MIAC championships and a 96-17 record in their four years of play.

Next year's Lady Cobber team will be led by junior guard Cathy Johnson, Crookston, Minn., who earned all-MIAC honors for a second time in 1990-91.
