Doug Perry, a 1965 Concordia graduate,
took over as head wrestling coach in 1991 and helped that team score two
MIAC Individual Championships and place three wrestlers on the Academic
All-America squad. Doug guides a program rich in athletic tradition, with
a long list of All-Americans to its credit, and wrestlers who've attained
equally fine academic honors.
In 2002 Perry was named the MIAC Coach
of the Year. During his tenure at Concordia Perry has coached 1 All-American,
3 Academic All-Americans, 3 MIAC Champions and 22 MIAC All-Conference athletes.
Perry has high expectations for the
young men in his program. He stresses the importance of a sound team concept,
hard work and individual dedication.
Doug has 26 years of experience as a
wrestling coach. He taught and coached at Worthington, MN, for 17 years
prior to coming to Concordia as a coach and faculty member of the Concordia
Physical Education Department. During that time he worked with numerous
regional and state tournament teams as well as a number of individual state
champions.
Doug also serves as an assistant football
coach. He lives in Moorhead with his wife Janet. They have three children:
Jayson, Jodi, and Jeni.
