Matt is in his third year as assistant coach for the Concordia wrestling program.
He joined the Cobber wrestling staff after spending two years as an assistant coach at Wadena-Deer Creek High School. During his time as an assistant at Wadena-Deer Creek, he worked with two state champions and numerous state place-winners. He was also part of the staff that helped the team achieve two consolation champion finishes.
Lowers has also served as an assistant to Concordia's new head coach Clay Nagel. Lowers has spent the last three years working at Nagel’s Freestyle and Greco Roman regional training site in Frazee, Minn.
Besides working with the Concordia College team and the Minnesota Freestyle and Greco Roman clubs, Matt also coaches at numerous wrestling camps throughout the summer. Matt is a staff member of the world renown J Robinson Wrestling Camps. J Robinson, the head coach at the Division I powerhouse University of Minnesota, started the first ever “Intensive Camp” in the late 70’s and since has turned it into the most well known training camp in the nation.
During the summer Matt travels
around the United States working with high school wrestlers from all over
the nation. Not only does he work with high school wrestlers at these
camps, but he is also able to learn from NCAA Division I National Champions
as well as Olympic and World level coaches and athletes that also serve
as staff members.
