3/12 The 1996-97 Cobber wrestling team was led by sophomore Nathan Reiff ('99 Whitehall, Mont.). Reiff won the MIAC title at 177 lbs., advanced to the NCAA National Tournament for the second consecutive year and compiled a 21-10 record

Reiff, a sophomore from Whitehall, MT, also earned recognition as a member of the Scholastic All-American Team, an award presented by the NCAA Division III Wrestling Coaches Association to outstanding wrestling student-athletes.

3/9/97 Nathan Reiff took part in the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championship, March 7-8 at Ohio Northern. Although Reiff lost both matches, he ended the year with a 21-10 record and the MIAC title at 177 lbs.

3/1/97 The Cobbers placed 4th in the MIAC Wrestling tournament at St. Olaf today. As expected, Augsburg won the team event. 

Cobber sophomore Nathan Reiff automatically qualified for his second NCAA III Wrestling Championship, March 7-8 at Ohio Northern, by winning the Championship at 177 lbs. Nathan is currently ranked 7th in the nation in NCAA Division III at 177 lbs.

2/20/97 Concordia lost 40-9 tonight at Moorhead State in their final duel of the year. Jeremy Hernandez and Nathan Reiff picked up wins for the Cobbers. The Cobbers will now prepare for the MIAC Championship Meet at St. Olaf March 1. 

2/15/97 The Cobbers Fell to St. Olaf 30-21 in a Dual last night in Northfield. They then finished 7th at the 12 Team Carleton Open today in Northfield. Nathan Reiff led the Cobber effort with 4 pins in five matches and a 3rd place finish at 177. The Cobbers' next outing is a Feb. 20 dual at Moorhead State. (See Concordian Story)

2/11/97 The Cobbers lost a dual to Jamestown College 15-24 tonight. Phil Brandstetter was the highlight for Concordia with a second period pin.

2/8/97 The Cobbers traveled to Decorah, IA for the 1997 All Lutheran Wrestling Tournament. The team placed 7th out of seven teams. Augsburg won the tournament. Nathan Reiff finished in 3rd place at 177 with a 3-1 record. (See Complete Results) (See Concordian Story)

2/1/97 The Cobbers lost to St. John's 39-9 in the first match on the second day of the MIAC Dual competition at St. John's. St. John's came into the tournament ranked No. 10 in the Nation. The Cobbers then beat St. Thomas 37-14 and lost to St. Olaf 27-18. The Cobbers finished 4th in the Tournament with their 2-3 record. (See Concordian Story)

1/31/97 Cobber split on first day of MIAC Dual competition, beating Carleton 40-15 and losing to Augsburg 50-0

1/23/97 The Cobbers lost 49-6 tonight in Moorhead to Itasca Community College. Itasca is the No. 1 Ranked Community College in the nation.

1/17/97 The Cobbers beat Fergus Falls Community college here tonight 31-21. Chad Nicholas and Phil Brandstetter had pins while Jeremy Hernandez, Nathan Reiff , and Colby Marich also picked up wins.

1/14/97 The Cobbers lost here tonight to Valley City State 12-27. See Concordian Story

1/10/97 Due to bad weather the Cobbers will not be going to the North Country Tournament at St. Olaf this Weekend.

12/14/96 Kevin Jackson captured Most Valuable Wrestler Honors at the Itasca Community College Tournament today. Shawn Nicholas and Colby Marich earned runnerup honors and Nathan Reiff grabbed 3rd at 177 with the fastest fall. (See Concordian Article)

12/10/96 Concordia lost 35-7 to Moorhead State here tonight.

12/7/96 The Cobbers beat Dakota Weselyan 27-16 here today in their home dual opener. Concordia hosts Moorhead State Tuesday, Dec. 10 at 7:00.
