Gets Two Wins in First Season![]() Concordia's first-ever women's swimming team completed their first
season of competition at the MIAC championships March 20-22. Though the
Cobbers finished 10th in league standings,
their season did include two dual wins and
much promise. Fourteen underclass women comprised the season-ending roster,
an excellent number for a first-year program. Cobber Janey Hill ('00 Bozeman, MT) was the top Cobber finisher at the MIAC Championships, finishing 8th in the 1650 free style. See Concordian Story2/8/91 The Cobbers picked up their second win of the year today in St. Paul with a 103-101 win over St. Mary's of Winona. The double dual at Macalester also found the Cobbers coming up short against Macalester, 133-92. (See also Concordian Coverage) Janey Hill led the Cobbers over St. Mary's with wins in the 400 and 800 Free events. 2/1/97 Concordia hosted Macalester today in a women's swimming dual. The Cobbers lost 93-133. Concordia picked up wins in the 1000 Free (Karie Baker) and the 500 Free (Janey Hill ). (See also Concordian Coverage) 1/24/97 The Cobbers won their first Dual Meet in school history with a 150-115 win over St. Catherine today. The The Cobbers also lost to Carleton 228-66 in the other match-up at St. Catherine. Although the meet results were recorded as a quadrangular they were scored as a double dual. (See also Concordian Coverage) 1/18/97 The Cobbers finished 3rd in their first-ever Concordia Quadrangular Meet here Saturday. Hamline won the event with 139 points. St. Thomas was second at 92, followed by Concordia (32) and St. Catherine (31). (See also Concordian Coverage) 12/7/96 Cobbers take 4th at UND Invitational 11/22-24/96 The Cobbers took part in the University of Minnesota Invitational November 22-24 in Minneapolis. 11/9/96 Concordia took part in its first two dual meets in school history over the past two days, losing to Gustavus 155-116 Nov. 8th and St. Ben's 138-81 Nov. 9th. Cobber Janey Hill took Concordia's first-ever first place finish, grabbing the 1000 free style at Gustavus in a time of 11:33.08. She also won the 500 free at GAC (5:43.49) and St. Ben's (5:41.16) The Gustavus dual also featured a 1-2 finish in the back stroke by Karyn Senst (1:08.72) and Jill Backman (1:09.23). See also Concordian Coverage 11/2/96 The Cobbers took part in the St. Thomas Relays today, the first meet ever for the Concordia Swimming and diving team. No team scores were kept.
