losing their top runner from the 2003 season, the Concordia women's cross
country team found success in their very first meet of
2004. The Cobbers used a "pack mentality" to place all seven runners in
the top 20 place winners of the meet en route to finishing second as a
team. Concordia finished the meet with 52 points. That was 32 behind St.
Ben's, who claimed the team championship with 20 points.
Natalie Hanson (Rogers,
Minn./Elk River Area HS) made an early bid to become the top Cobber runner
in 2004. She finished the 5,000 meter course in 20:59 and placed a solid
sixth in the individual standings. Hanson tracked down a runner from Concordia-St.
Paul at the wire to vault to her sixth-place finish.
Jennifer St. John
(Sr., Billings, Mont./Billings West HS) supplied a pleasant surprise for
head coach Marv Roeske in the opening meet of the year. St. John, free
from the nagging injuries that bothered her in 2003, ran a 21:08 and placed
