MOORHEAD, Minn. (6/4/10)-- Concordia placed a pair of infielders on the ABCA All-Midwest Region Team it was announced on Friday. Jake Krause (Sr., Moorhead, Minn.) and Dan Wackler (Jr., Buffalo, Minn.) both received All-Region honors for the first time in their career. Krause was named to the All-Midwest Second Team and Wackler received All-Region Third Team honors.

It marks the fifth straight season that Bucky Burgau's squad has placed two players on the most prestigious ABCA All-Region Team. All total, the Cobbers have had 16 players receive All-Region honors in the past seven years and 42 since 1983.

Krause and Wackler, the team's shortstop and second base combination, helped the Cobbers finish the year with a 24-17 record which was the most wins since the 2003 season. Concordia finished second in the MIAC with a 14-6 conference record and earned a spot in the league playoffs for the first time in six years.

The pair also helped Concordia set the school record for stolen bases in a single season. The two combined to swipe 34 bases which was part of the team's total of 89 for the year. The Cobbers finished 38th in the nation in stolen bases this season.

Krause was second on the team in hitting with a .398 average and led the team in hits (51), runs (38), home runs (6), total bases (80), slugging percentage (.625) and stolen bases (24) and was tied for the team lead in RBI (30). He also had a team-high 16 multiple-hit games and had five multiple-RBI contests. Krause hit safely in 23 of the 33 games he appeared in during the 2010 season and had a season-high four hits on two occasions. He also had a 10-game hitting streak during the year.

Wackler had his best year of his career in 2010. He led the team in hitting with a .413 average. That total was over 130 points higher than his previous career best of .279 last season. Wackler also led the team in doubles (14) and on-base-percentage (.482) and was tied for the team lead in triples (2). He was also second on the team in hits (50), total bases (68) and slugging percentage (.562). Wackler also had the highest fielding percentage (.980) of any Cobber regular as he committed only three errors in 153 chances.
