ST. PAUL, Minn. (5/18/10)-- For the second straight season, Concordia had four players receive postseason conference honors. Sophomore pitcher/designated hitter (Billings, Mont./Billings West HS) was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team while Maddie Haroldson (Sr., Sartell, Minn.) and Kaia Sele (Fr., Bemidji, Minn.) earned MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Honors.
Senior outfielder Becki Zimmerman (Chokio, Minn./Chokio-Alberta HS) was named the squad's representative on the All-MIAC Sportsmanship Team.
It marks the second straight season that Jones has earned conference postseason honors. Last year she was named to the MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team. Jones was tied for the team lead in hitting in conference play in 2010. She hit .419 in 22 league games and was tied for ninth in the conference in average. She also had at least one hit in eight of the last nine games of the year and also 10 of the final 12. During that stretch she had six multiple-hit games.
Jones was also the team's top pitcher for the second straight year. She won four games in the MIAC and threw 68.1 innings. Jones was fourth in the MIAC in appearances (17) and was tied for the league lead in games finished (7).
Haroldson capped her career with the best season in her four years. She batted .397 in 22 conference games and led the team in hitting with a .405 average in all games. She was second on the team in doubles (8) and total bases (40). Haroldson had at least one hit in 17 of the 22 league games and had a team-high 10 multiple-hit games against MIAC opponents. At one point in the season she had multiple-hit games in five of six contests.
Sele was the biggest surprise of the season for the Cobbers. She came on at the end of the year and ended up tying for the team lead in hitting in MIAC play (.419). Like Jones, she was tied for ninth in the league in average. She was led the team in home runs (4) and was tied for fourth in the conference in that category. Sele also led the team in total bases (49), slugging percentage (.662) and hits (31).
