Doubleheader Recap:

ST. PETER, Minn. (4/14/10)-- Concordia dropped two games at MIAC defending champion Gustavus on Wednesday in St. Peter. The Cobbers lost 6-0 in the first game and then 12-0 in five innings in the second game. CC has now lost four straight and is now 5-20/2-6 MIAC. With the two wins, the Gusties improve their winning streak to seven games and are now 16-6 overall and 9-1 in league play.

Cobber sophomore shortstop Emily Salo was 2-for-5 on the day as she accounted for two of the team's six hits in the doubleheader. Kesley Jones and Kayla Hendrickson had the other hits in the opener and Joelle Link and Kaia Sele had the base knocks in the finale.

Once again the big innings cost Concordia. The Cobbers gave up single runs in the first and second frames in the opener but then watched the game get out of reach in the sixth inning when GAC plated four runners. In the second game, Gustavus was powered by a seven-run second inning.

Jones started the opener and pitched the first 5.1 innings. She gave up six earned runs and seven hits. Brynn Johnson pitched the final two outs for CC and only allowed one hit. Link was the starter in the nightcap. She lasted 1.1 innings and gave up eight of the 12 runs in the game. Johnson finished off the five-inning game by giving up one earned run and striking out a pair.

Concordia will stay on the road as they play at St. Olaf on Saturday, Apr. 17 at 1 p.m. and then at Augsburg on Sunday, Apr. 18 at 1 p.m.
