Meet Recap:

MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/30/10)-- Concordia opened the 2010 indoor track and field season by hosting the annual Cobber Open on Saturday in Moorhead. Individuals from eight different schools competed in the meet that did not keep track of team scores. Concordia had several outstanding individual performances for a first meet and was led by sophomore Tatijana MullerDahlberg who won the triple jump and provisionally qualified for nationals.

MullerDalberg served notice that she is ready to have a breakout season in her second full year of collegiate track and field. She recorded a distance of 36-11.00 and beat competitors from NCAA Division I, II and NAIA schools. MullerDahlberg's mark provisionally qualified for the NCAA Indoor Meet. It is also the best jump of the year in the MIAC and 10th best in the nation. She also placed seventh in the 55 meters in a time of 7.61 and ninth in the high jump with a height of 4-10.50. Her marks in the triple jump and 55 meters were in the top 10 all time for Concordia.

Cobber All-American Leah Kay kicked off her senior campaign by finishing second in the high jump with a height of 5-02.50. She also competed in the 55-meter hurdles and finished 11th as she prepares to back up her All-American status in the pentathlon.

Concordia also had four other athletes post top 3 finishes in events with more than seven athletes. The field tandem of Emily Davis and Kristen Warren started the season off on the right foot by placing in the weight throw and shot put. Davis was second in the weight throw with a distance of 46-9.50 while Warren posted a third-place finish in the shot put with a mark of 38-10.50.

A pair of distance runners also had highlights in the opening meet of the season. Kristy Singlestad ran a 19:42.91 in the 5000 meters and finished second and Anna Hagen clocked a 11:35.58 in the 3000 meters and was third. Singlestad's time in the 5000 meters is the third fastest in the MIAC this season.

Concordia will finish off their string of home meets to open 2010 when they host the Cobber Duals on Saturday, Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. in the Olson Forum.
