(2/13/10)-- Concordia competed in their first away meet of the 2010 season as they traveled down Main Street and up Broadway to get to the Bison Open on Saturday. The Cobbers had three athletes put up marks that rank in the top 10 of the CC all-time list and had 25 personal best marks in the meet. The meet started out on a whim in Friday's pentathlon. Cobber senior Tara Ray decided to help out host NDSU and compete in the 60-meter hurdles so that the Bison athletes can use the competition as a national qualifying event. Ray and two other CC athletes compete in the hurdles and following the race Ray decides to continue with the pentathlon and finish out the events even though she was just going to race in the first event. Ray proceeds to go out and set a personal best in the pentathlon, post the seventh highest score in school history and her final mark of 2943 was just 57 points shy of provisionally qualifying for nationals. Ray wasn't finished with PR's during the regular meet. She went out and posted a distance of 16-07.25 in the long jump which is was also a personal best. Ray also competed in the 60-meter hurdles and as part of the 4x400-meter relay to complete her busy weekend. Other Cobber athletes who broke into the school's all-time top 10 included Emily Davis and Alexa Kleingarnter. Davis posted a distance of 48-08.00 in the weight throw and bettered her previous personal best by two feet. The distance is the eighth farthest in program history and sixth best in the MIAC this season. Kleingartner, who continues to recover from an injury, ran a 8.52 in the 60-meter dash and moved into ninth place on the school's all-time best list. The top finisher for the Cobbers at the DI meet was sophomore Tatijana MullerDahlberg who continued her hot season start by jumping 36-07.00 in the triple jump and finished fourth. She has now recorded jumps of over 36-feet in three straight meets. MullerDahlberg also set a personal best in the high jump by recording a height of 5-00.50. She was one of three Cobber athletes to clear 5-feet at the meet. Concordia will stay on the road next weekend as they start spring break by competing at the CSB/SJU Quadrangular Meet at St. John's on Saturday, Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. Cobber Notables: Bison Open @ NDSU February 13, 2010 ALL-TIME TOP 10: 60 Dash - Alexa Kleingartner - 8.52 - Top 10-#9 Weight Throw - Emily Davis - 48-8 (14.83m) - Top 10-#8 Pentathlon - Tara Ray - 2943 points - Top 10-#7 PERSONAL RECORDS: 60- Sara Parsons, Emily Seller, Natalie Decker, Trina Gerzema, Kari Ludwig; 200- Sara Parsons, Natalie Decker, Emily Seller, Sarah Johnson; 400- Kristin Boyum; Mile- Shelby Goettemoeller, Brooke Schlotterback; 3000- Kristy Singlestad, Anna Hagen, Caroline McLaughlin; 60 Hurdles- Brittney Kolstad, Kaari Jensen, Kristin Boyum (tie); Long Jump- Tara Ray; High Jump- Tara Ray (Pent), Tatijana MullerDahlberg; Pole Vault- Trina Gerzema; Weight Throw- Emily Davis, Laura Gonshorowski; Pentathlon- Tara Ray.
