(5/01/10)-- On a day that was more suited for ducks and turtles Conncordia braved the rainy and dreary weather at the Ron Masanz Invite at MSU Moorhead and came away with several successful performances as they continue to prepare for the MIAC Outdoor Meet on May 14-15. The Cobbers posted four top 3 finishes and had 24 athletes finish in the top 10 of an event at a meet that was dominated by NCAA Division II and NAIA athletes. The only event win came from the 4x400-meter relay team of Kaari Jensen, Megan Hoffman, Leah Kay and Kristin Slette who clocked a 4:01.21 and beat the quartet from St. Ben's by .46 of a second. That time is a season-best for a Cobber 4x400 relay team. Kay, the five-time All-American, recorded three other top 10 finishes at the meet. She was sixth in the triple jump, eighth in the javelin and ninth in the high jump. The top individual finishes for Concordia were turned in by Emily Davis, Tatijana MullerDahlberg, Tara Ray and Hailey Brenden. Davis won the hammer throw and was third in the discus. She had a mark of 148-04.00 in the hammer which is a season best. MullerDahlberg, slowly returning to her indoor form, posted a distance of 35-07.50 and finished third in the triple jump. Ray ran a 67.23 in the 400-meter hurdles and placed fourth and Brenden also put in a fourth-place finish by running an 18:46.70 in the 5000 meters. Brenden's time is a season best. Freshman Elisabeth Hanson turned in a top time in the 1500 meters. She raced to a 5:06.28 and finished ninth in the event. Her finishing time is the best by a Cobber athlete this year. The other time top by a CC athlete in 2010 was turned in by Kari Ludwig who ran a 13.05 in the 100 meters. That time is a top 15 mark in the conference this season. Concordia will have one more meet before competing in the MIAC Outdoor Championship Meet on May 14-15 at St. Mary's. The Cobbers will participate in the Tommie Twilight meet on Wednesday, May 5 in St. Paul. Cobber Notables: RON MASANZ INVITE MEET @ MSU Moorhead - May 1 ALL-TIME TOP 10: PERSONAL RECORDS:
