MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. (1/4/10)--
Led by David Olson's (SR, Lindstrom, Minn./Chisago Lakes HS) 24-point, 9-of-11 shooting performance, Augsburg was able to post a 68-52 win over Concordia College-Moorhead in Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action at Si Melby Hall on Monday night.

Olson's 24 points are a season-high performance for Augsburg (8-2 overall, 3-2 MIAC), which included a 4-for-5 night from behind the arc. Jon Cassens (SR, Prior Lake, Minn.) also had a season-best night for Augsburg, scoring 17 points, six rebounds and four assists. Cassens finished the night 6-for-7 from the field and 3-for-3 from beyond the arc. Also finishing in double figures for Augsburg was Ben Flavin (JR, Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North HS), who recorded 11 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Concordia (7-4 overall, 3-3 MIAC) was led by the duo of Darrin Olmscheid and John Fraase, who both finished with double-doubles. Olmscheid had a 15-point, 10-rebound night, while Fraase finished with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

An exciting first half of basketball found the Auggies up by 11 with just over eight minutes remaining. Concordia rallied back with an 11-0 run to tie things up 28-28 with 2:56 left in the half. The Cobbers hit a jumper with one second left on the clock to take a two point lead into the locker room at the intermission.

Augsburg tied the score at 34-34 off a layup by Olson at with 16:24 left to play in the second half and then proceeded to outscore the Cobbers 20-7 over the next five minutes building a 13 point lead. The hot shooting Auggies built their lead to as many as 18 before going on to claim the final victory 68-52.

For the game, Augsburg shot 48.1 percent (26-of-54), while Concordia connected on 36.1 percent (22-of-61) of its shots. The Cobbers were able to out-rebound the Auggies 37-33 but Augsburg was able to outscore Concordia 28-18 in points in the paint.

Augsburg and Concordia both return to MIAC action on Wednesday (1/6) when Augsburg travels to St. John's while Concordia plays host to Macalester.
