MOORHEAD, Minn. (1/16/10)-- One of the Cobber Nation fans summed up Concordia's performance on Saturday against St. Mary's in Moorhead by succinctly saying "the ball didn't go in the basket." That quote pretty much summed up the Cobbers' offensive performance as they shot 36.7% (18-for-49) from the field, 28.6% (6-for-21) from 3-point range and lost 71-55.

It is the first loss at home for Concordia this season and dropped the Cobbers' overall record to 8-6. CC is now 4-5 in conference play. The Cardinals snap a seven-game losing streak and improve to 5-9 in all games and 3-6 in the MIAC.

Concordia never got on track on offense and watched as SMU freshman Chris Palmer had the game of his young career. Palmer was 5-for-7 from 3-point range and finished with a game-high 26 points. He continually bailed the SMU offense out at the end of shot clocks and showed his versatility by canning shots from behind the arc and inside the paint. Lukas Holland added 21 points for the Cardinals while Will Wright added 13. The trio accounted for 84.5% of the team's scoring on the day.

While Concordia struggled to shoot the ball the entire game, St. Mary's shot very well for long periods of time and finished by knocking down 47.1% (24-for-51) of their shots from the floor and 45.5% (10-for-22) of their tries from long range.

The Cobbers only had one player with more than eight points in the game. John Fraase had 12 points and eight rebounds to pace CC. Freshman Ebo Nana-Kweson came off the bench and went 2-for-3 from behind the arc and added eight points. It is the second straight game he has had at least eight points in a game.

Concordia outrebounded SMU 33-27 for the game while the Cardinals held a 24-20 edge in points in the paint.

The Cobbers will have a short turnaround time before their next game. Concordia will play at St. Olaf on Monday, Jan. 18 at 7:45 p.m. before returning home to host St. Thomas on Wednesday, Jan. 20.
