MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/15/10)-- Concordia junior forward John Fraase (Bismarck, N.D./Bismarck Century HS) was named the MIAC Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week it was announced by the league office on Monday. Fraase averaged 19.5 points and 12.8 rebounds per game in the Cobbers' road wins at Macalester and Saint Mary's last week. It is the second time in his career that he has won the conference weekly honor. He also achieved the award on Feb. 23 of last season when he had 34 points and 21 points against St. Mary's. Fraase shares the award this week with Carleton junior forward Seth Jonker who averaged 16.1 points, 7.0 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.0 and helped the Knights earn their ninth consecutive trip to the conference playoffs. Fraase's excellent play has coincided with Concordia's current four-game winning streak. The two wins last week helped Concordia get back to the .500 mark in all games since the middle of January. Against Macalester on Wednesday in the team's 76-50 win, Fraase had 14 points and 10 rebounds and shot 42.9% (6-for-14) from the floor. Fraase had a season-high 25 points against the Cardinals, added 14 rebounds and shot 50.0% (10-for-20) from the floor. Fraase has now posted double-doubles in his last four games and has 12 for the season. He has also scored at least 18 points in three of the last four games. He currently leads the MIAC in rebounding with a 10.3 rpg average in conference play.
