2010 MIAC All-Conference Award Winners


MOORHEAD, Minn. (3/1/10)-- Five Concordia players earned MIAC postseason honors it was announced by the league office on Monday. Sophomore defenseman Erick Galt (Fargo, N.D.) was named to the MIAC All-Conference Team for the second consecutive season while Marc Harrie (So., Fargo, N.D.), Casey Olson (Sr., Rock Springs, Wyo.) and Nick Thielen (So., Moorhead, Minn.) earned MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention honors and Pat Deitz (Fr., Moorhead, Minn.) was placed on the MIAC All-Rookie Team.

Galt led the team in assists in 2010. He finished with 14 assists to go along with two goals for a career-high 16 points. He was third on the team in scoring in overall games. In conference play Galt had one goal and 10 assists for 11 points and was in the top 15 of the MIAC in assists. He was also tied for fifth in the conference in scoring by a defenseman and was tied for second in assists by a defenseman. Galt had an assist in seven of the 16 conference games this year and had a season-high three assists against St. Thomas on Jan. 16.

Galt was named the MIAC Player of the Week on Jan. 18 for his two-game performance against St. Thomas. He became the first Cobber player to earn MIAC Player of the Week honors since the 2004-05 season.

Harrie earns All-Conference Honorable Mention honors for the second straight year. He was tied for second on the team in scoring in conference games with five goals and six assists for 11 points. Harrie had at least one point in nine of the 16 MIAC games this year and had multiple-point games against St. Mary's and St. Thomas. In the Cobbers' 25 overall games, he had seven goals and nine assists for 16 points and was tied for third on the team in scoring.

It is also the second time in his career that Olson has been named to the MIAC All-Conference Honorable Mention Team. He also earned the award in his sophomore season in 2008-09. Like Galt, Olson was one of the top blueliners on the team and one of the steadiest defensemen in the conference. He scored his lone conference goal in the team's first conference win of the year against St. Mary's on Nov. 13. He finished the season with one goal and two assists for three points.

Thielen led the team in scoring in 2009-10. He finished with 10 goals and 13 assists for 23 points in all games and seven goals and nine assists for 16 points in league play. He had at least one point in 11 of the 16 league games and had a season-high four points against St. Mary's. Thielen was tied for 12th in the conference in scoring in MIAC games and was tied for 11th in the league in goals scored. His 23 overall points are the most by a Cobber player since the 2006-07 season.

Deitz was a part of a tremendous freshmen class for Concordia and finished the year second on the team in scoring. He posted seven goals and 10 assistsfor 17 points in overall games and had two goals and six assists in conference play. He was tied for third in the MIAC in freshmen scoring in overall games. Deitz' highwater mark of the season came against Northland College when he had a goal and three assists.
