Meet Recap

MOORHEAD, Minn. (11/07/09)-- Concordia opened the 2009-10 home season by hosting Macalester and St. Thomas in a double dual meet on Saturday. The Cobbers dropped a pair of decisions as they fell 81.50-55.50 to the Scots and 96.00-41.00 to the Tommies.

The highlights of the meet for Concordia came from the divers and a junior swimmer. Senior Lauren Trudeau won both portions of the 1-meter diving competition. She posted a score of 148.90 in the voluntary section and then added a score of 196.25 in the optionals to come away with a final total of 345.15. Teammate Amy Glubzinski finished second in the voluntaries with a mark of 134.40 but then slipped to third in the optionals and finished third overall with a final total of 331.05.

On the swimming side, Concordia used the meet as an early-season training session with individuals just trying to figure out their base for the 2009-10 season. For the most part times were slower than they normally would be since it was the first official meet of the year. The one CC athlete that broke out and posted a career best was junior Emily Riihiluoma. She posted a career-best time in the 100-yard freestyle by posting a time of 1:05.89.

The top Cobber swimming finisher was freshman Amanda Suchanek. She swam a 26.00 flat in the 5-yard freestyle and won the event by .40 seconds. Suchanek also finished second in the 100-yard butterfly with a mark of 1:08.30.

Other top three finishers for Concordia included senior Stacie Fossum who swam a 1:16.91 in the 100-yard breaststroke and finished second. Jessica Obrecht was right behind Fossum in the 100-yard breaststroke. Obrecht finished with a time of 1:20.78

The Cobbers will stay home and host MSU Moorhead in a dual meet on Friday, Nov. 13 at 6 p.m.
