ST. PETER, Minn. (12/05/09)-- Concordia had a case of the colds against Gustavus on Saturday in St. Peter. The Cobbers shot just 25.0% (5-for-20) from 3-point range in the game, connected on only 37.5% (6-for-16) of their shots from the floor in the final seven minutes of the second half, shot a frigid 57.1% (12-for-21) from the free throw line and lost to the Gusties 66-61.

The loss ends Concordia's one-game win streak to start the conference season. CC is now 2-3 overall and 1-1 in league play. Gustavus remains unbeaten in the MIAC as they move to 4-1 in all games and 2-0 in the conference.

Concordia took a 29-26 lead at the break when they were able to score the final three points in the first half after the score was tied for the fifth time in the opening 20 minutes of play. The lead would be erased in the first two minutes of the second half before the teams over the next eight minutes of play. With the ninth tie score of the game at 43-43 with 10:23 to play, Gustavus would score 15 of the next 22 points. That 15-7 over a span of six minutes put the game away and gave GAC a 58-50 lead with 4:05 to play. The Cobbers got to within three points on two occasions in the final four minutes, but each time the Gusties responded with points in the very next possession.

Concordia wound up shooting 38.6% (22-for-57) from the floor for the game. They were led in scoring by junior Erica Nord who had 15 points to go along with four steals and three assists. It marks the second straight game she has led the team in scoring. Lindsey Schultz and Maggie Bauernfeind were the only other CC players with more than eight points in the game. Schultz finished with 13 points and Bauernfeind added 10. It is the fifth straight game that Bauernfeind has scored in double figures this season. Sara Sorbo led the team in rebounding. She had a season-high seven rebounds and chipped in six points.

Gustavus shot 43.8% (21-for-48) from the floor for the 40 minutes. That included a 52.6% (10-for-19) clip in the second half. They were also 4-for-9 (44.4%) from behind the arc in the final 20 minutes of play. The Gusties were led in scoring by Molly Mathiowetz who had a game-high 17 points and went 6-for-7 from the field. She was one of four GAC players in double figures for the game.

Concordia only turned the ball over 13 times in the game as compared to 17 for the Gusties and used that advantage to hold an 18-7 margin in points off of turnovers - the biggest statistical difference in the game.

Concordia will finally host their home opener. The Cobbers will end their five-game road trip to start the year and host Carleton on Monday, Dec. 5 at 5:45 p.m.
