NORTHFIELD, Minn. (1/18/10)-- After their game with St. Olaf on Monday, Concordia might have to sneak out of Northfield with the lights off on the bus so they don't get pulled over by the police. The Cobbers forced 31 turnovers and had 18 steals as they lifted their way past St. Olaf 81-57.

The 31 turnovers and 18 steals are season highs for Concordia as they win for the fourth straight time and reach the double-digit win total for the 35th consecutive season. The Cobbers are now 10-4 overall and 9-2 in the MIAC. CC also won for the 15th consecutive time over the Oles in a streak that dates back to the 2001-02 season.

Concordia's pressure defense continually flustered the Ole offense and repeatedly forced bad passes and forced shots. St. Olaf was able to shoot 41.2% (21-for-51) from the field but could only find their way free to hit on 14.3% (1-for-7) of their shots from outside the arc. On the other end, the Cobbers were clicking at a 47.6% (30-for-63) clip from the floor and 33.3% (6-for-18) from 3-point range. It marked the sixth time this season that Concordia has attempted more than 60 shots in a game. CC is now 6-0 when they are able to get off more than 60 shots from the floor in a game.

The only cause for concern for Concordia came under the basket where the Oles held a 42-27 edge in rebounding. It is the fewest rebounds of the season for the Cobbers and the 42 rebounds collected by St. Olaf is the second most for a CC opponent all year. The most lopsided stat for the Cobbers came in points off of turnovers. Concordia only turned the ball over 11 times in the game which projected to a tidy 38-12 margin in points off of miscues.

Erica Nord led a quartet of Cobber players in double figures. Nord had a game-high 18 points and has now scored at least 15 points in six of the past seven games. The biggest individual plus for Cobber head coach Jessica Rahman came from the play of a pair of newcomers who are starting to find more and more time on the court for CC. Freshman Tricia Sorensen and sophomore Carolyn Smith combined for 22 points as both players reached the double-digit score total for the first time in their careers. Sorensen was 5-for-7 from the floor and 2-for-2 from the free throw line and ended with 12 points. Smith was 4-for-7 from the floor and added 10 points. She also had a tram-high three rebounds. Maggie Bauernfeind put up 11 points and went 2-for-3 from behind the arc.

St. Olaf (1-13/1-10 MIAC) was led by a pair of 13-point scorers. Mackenzie Wolter went 5-for-12 from the floor and had 13 points while Erin Haglund had 13 points to go along with five rebounds. Terin Euerele hustled her way to a game-high 10 rebounds.

Concordia will return home for two huge conference games to begin the second half of the MIAC season. The Cobbers will host St. Thomas on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 5:45 p.m and then turn around and square off against league-leading Gustavus on Saturday, Jan. 23 at 1 p.m.
