WINONA, Minn. (2/13/10)-- Concordia started the game by scoring 12 of the first 14 points against St. Mary's, went on an 8-0 run to finish the first half and cruised to an 80-51 win over the Cardinals in Winona. The victory completes the regular-season road schedule for the Cobbers and pushes their overall record to 16-7 and 15-5 in the MIAC. The Cobbers used the two bookend spurts in the first half to grab an 18-point lead at the break. Concordia then withstood a mini-run from St. Mary's to start the second period and pushed the lead to 23 points at 58-35 midway through the final half of play. CC was able to keep the margin in the 20-point range and went on to win by 29 points. It is their second largest margin of victory in conference play this season and marks the third time in the last four games that the Cobbers have scored at least 80 points in a game. The story of the game was Concordia's ability to consistently knock down shots and then pressure St. Mary's into committing 32 turnovers in the game. The Cobbers shot at least 40.0% from the floor and behind the arc in both periods. For the game Concordia shot 49.1% (26-for-53) from the field and 46.2% (6-for-13) from 3-point shot. CC was also "on" from the free throw line as they made 22 of their 28 (78.6%) foul shots. Brittany Jossart led a trio of Cobber players in double figures. She went 5-for-6 from the floor and 4-for-4 from the free throw line and finished with 15 points. Erica Nord had another all-around great day. She finished with 14 points and had six rebounds, six assists and six steals. It is the 11th consecutive game she has scored in double figures and 11th straight game she has led the team in scoring. Anna Matetich came away with 12 points to complete the Cobber double-digit trio. Sara Sorbo had game-highs in rebounds and steals. She finished with six rebounds, four steals and also had nine points. The Cardinals had only one player in double figures. Jessica Thone had a team-high 13 points and also added four rebounds and three assists. Jamie Stefley had six rebounds and nine points. Concordia will now finish off the regular season by hosting a pair of games in Memorial Auditorium. The Cobbers will square off against St. Kate's on Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 7:30 p.m. and then finish off the regular season on Saturday, Feb. 20 against St. Olaf.
