MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/20/10)-- Concordia outscored St. Olaf 40-23 in the second half and outlasted the Oles in a 76-56 victory on Senior Celebration Day in Moorhead on Saturday. The win was a fitting way to honor Cobber seniors Anna Matetich and Sara Sorbo as the two combined for 29 points and helped CC earn their 18th win of the season.

Concordia finishes the regular season with an 18-7 overall record, and for the second straight year, a 17-5 mark in conference play. The Cobbers will be the No.3 seed in the upcoming playoffs and will host No.6-seeded St. Kate's in a quarterfinal game on Monday, Feb. 22 at 7:30 p.m. CC will be making its eighth straight conference tournament appearance.

The game against the Oles was decided at the end of the first half and into the second period. The Cobbers trailed 31-30 in the final two minutes of opening period and then Sorbo connected on two of her four 3-point field goals in the game to give Concordia a 36-33 lead at the half.

Sorbo would finish 4-for-4 from behind the arc and record a season-high 19 points. She was 6-for-10 from the floor and 3-for-3 from the free throw line as she sparked the Cobbers.

Using Sorbo's momentum shove at the end of the first half, the Cobbers came out in the final 20 minutes of play and opened up a 14-point lead at the 14:11 mark. Concordia's depth and up-tempo play would keep St. Olaf from making any big comebacks and CC was able to hold a double-digit for the remainder of the game.

In the end it was Concordia's ability to knock down the long-range shot and defensive intensity that turned the game around. The Cobbers shot 50% (11-for-22) from behind the arc and forced 21 turnovers. CC has now shot at least 50.0% from 3-point range in three of the last four games.

Matetich came up with a pair of clutch 3-point field goals of her own and finished with 10 points. It is the fourth straight game that she has finished in double figures in scoring and ups her career-best season scoring average to 8.8 points per game.

Lindsey Schultz and Erica Nord also finished in double-digits in scoring for Concordia. Schultz was 7-for-10 from the floor and had a season-high 18 points. That total is one shy of her career best mark of 19. Nord had 10 points and has now scored in double figures in 13 straight games and 17 of the last 18. Maggie Bauernfeind was the queen of the glass for the day. She came up with a career-high 10 rebounds.

St. Olaf was led by reserve guard Sam Zopfi who kept the Oles close in the first half with her outside shooting. She finished with 14 points on the day and was 4-for-5 from behind the arc. Terin Eurele added 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.

The Cobbers will now have only one day to prepare for the Wildcats. The two teams faced each other on Wednesday with Concordia holding on for a 76-71 win.
