MOORHEAD, Minn. (2/5/10)-- Concordia junior guard Erica Nord (Wolverton, Minn./Barnesville HS) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Third Team it was announced on Friday. It is the first time in her career that she has earned the prestigious academic honor. Nord was one of only three players in the MIAC in either women's or men's basketball to earn Academic All-District honors. Nord, who carries a 3.98 grade point average while majoring in Accounting and Business Management, leads Concordia in scoring, assists and steals and is second on the team in rebounding. Nord is averaging 14.3 points per game this year. She is also averaging 5.0 rebounds per game, 4.0 assists and 2.62 steals. She is currently sixth in the MIAC in points per game. In addition, she is also in the top 10 in the conference in field goal percentage, assists, steals, 3-point field goal percentage, 3-point field goals made, assist-to-turnover ratio, offensive rebounds and minutes played. Nord has been a key ingredient in helping Concordia go 15-6 overall and 14-4 in conference play. She has helped the Cobbers clinch their eighth consecutive MIAC playoff appearance and post their 27th consecutive season with at least 10 wins in league play. The ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District team is part of the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America program, administered by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) a 2,000-member organization consisting of sports public relations professionals for colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. The Academic All-America program annually honors over 1600 student-athletes who have succeeded at the highest level on the playing field and in the classroom. Top student-athletes from non-Division I programs in Minnesota, Wisconsin, Illinois, Indiana, Ontario and Manitoba are eligible for inclusion on the district team. To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his current institution and be nominated by her sports information director.
