Meet Recap
SHEBOYGAN, Wis. (11/07/09)-- No.8-ranked Concordia opened the 2009-10 season by posting a perfect 4-0 record at the Lakeland (Wis.) Duals on Saturday. The Cobbers cruised past Trine (Mich.), Wabash, UW-Eau Claire and host Lakeland in recording their four wins. On the day CC lost only five individual matches, recorded 11 wins by a pin and did not have a single wrestler pinned in the 40 matches.

The Cobbers had seven different wrestlers go undefeated on the day. Five of those had posted perfect 4-0 marks. Mike Holman was 4-0 and had two pins at 133. Ben Anderson was 4-0 with a pin at 141, Justin Berns also had four wins and came away with a single pin at 149. Junior Ross Dankers had the best day of any CC wrestler. He won all four matches on the day, had three pins and won his other match by five points at 174. The final member of the 4-0 quintet was No.1-ranked Phil Moenkedick who kicked off his season at 184 by winning all four matches, two of which were by pins.

Cobber head coach Clay Nagel split the matches at 125. Daron Hohbein and Ben Presler both wrestled in two matches and both went 2-0. Hohbein had a pin against Lakeland and Presler had a major decision against UW-Eau Claire.

Concordia opened the day by claiming a 28-10 win over Trine. It would be the closest match of the day. The Cobbers won the first four matches against the Thunder. Trine then captured the next two before Dankers, Moenkedick and freshman Nathan Schmitz put the match out of reach with three straight victories.

The Cobbers then beat Wabash 36-6 as they won eight of the 10 individual matches. CC won the first eight matches against the Little Giants and coasted to the 30-point win.

Concordia then finished off the day by blanking UW-Eau Claire 42-0 and losing only one match, and posting a 46-3 win over host Lakeland. In the final two team matches, the Cobbers had a 19-1 record in individual matches.
